    Yay! I want them all! Oh no, wait… Kubuntu doesn’t have support for Ubuntu One Music Store, yet. Bugger, I really, really wanted to buy them all! What a pity… Oh well!

    All right I won’t complain about the music selection in the World Store but something really needs to be done to increase user experience with it. As it stands VERY FEW of the songs/albums/artists displayed on it are at all recognizable and there is little incentive to check them out. They are simply there passively as information only as with the more popular tracks on the US store. But the same model doesn’t work well with the World Store. In the US/Big stores Recognizable tracks that have been heard by many are displayed front and center. This creates a easy click and buy mechanic.

    This doesn’t work for the world store. This is my own thought process during my trail of the World Store. Firstly I thought: I recognize few/if any of the artists… and thought “what kind of music store is this? bah Ubuntu” next they I searched for my favorite artist… as with most this artist was popular and not in the World Store. Now I also have taste for indie music so I ended up finding and buying a song or two. But many people will likely not like/care about these artists because they simply don’t know about them! The Music Store needs to be easily maintainable but some sort of easy discovery feature really needs to be included instead of just a search index. I am not sure what kind of rights Canonical was given with the World Store is it possible to allow Pandora/lastfm-like streaming? Is it possible to partner with sites for indie music like TheSixtyOne to provide ratings for indie music?

    The situation as it stands now is really barely usable. The World Store really needs some loving.

    Ellipsis: I completely understand what you’re saying. We are looking into ways to enhance the findability of good music (different for everyone) in all stores. You’re right that this would benefit the World store greatly b/c the good stuff (again, different for everyone) is especially difficult to find in that store. Thanks for your comments.

    A few more suggestion on the music store search. There is currently no classical genre, and the search feature is not working well. For example I search “mozart piano concerto” and select “all”, it doesn’t show anything, but if I select “artist”, it returns some results. Isn’t “all” supposed to be more inclusive?
    Also, I wished the search fields are sticky (so if I select search by “album”, it should keep “album” selected and show the last entered search term on the search field)

    @Mariano Pavone: sure I can, but why should I want to? I have Amarok, Rhythmbox looks so primitive compared to it. Plus, that would look so alien among all my KDE apps. No, mine was just a sarcastic mini-rant against the unbalanced development of Kubuntu as it stands compared to Ubuntu, although both are version 10.04. We’re all able to also buy directly from the vendor’s website, or even other websites. But if there really are Kubuntu users inclined to buy from Ubuntu One Music Store, well chances are they will not be paying customers for the current release, which will translate in a lost source of income for Canonical, as irrelevant as it may seems.

    You should have artists with new albums like david guetta etc .. can not see the duration of the songs.
