Requiring user to go to a pay plan just to use contacts sync is ridiculous. I can sync to Google Contacts in Thunderbird easily using any of a number of freely available extensions. Moreover, it is drop dead simple to sync GContacts with an Android phone.

What exactly is Ubuntu One Contacts offering that justifies requiring people to pay for a service that they can get for free?

To my mind it is not a good idea to let thunderbird users pay for that feature. Just keep in mind the disadvantage of thunderbird users concerning the notification integration. It would be more than fair to offer it free.

Contact syncing is not working properly for me. It syncs the contact name and email address only. It does not sync phone numbers, which I have many contacts from my phone, with only phone numbers.
