I’d should test with you here. Which is not one thing I usually do! I enjoy studying a post that can make people think. Also, thanks for permitting me to remark!

Terrific work! This is the kind of information that should be shared close to the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!

Jonathan: Great suggestion! Thanks. We have a team sprint coming up in a few weeks where we'll plan lots of improvements to the Ubuntu One website features and this is on my wish list.

It would be nice to be able to download whole folders all at once including sub folders. One click instead of dozens to restore data to a computer...

I agree with others who have cited the need for a lower-cost subscription option. I really don’t need 50gb of storage, and $10/month is more than I wish to spend. However, now that Ubuntu One is working the way it should (it was really quite buggy in previous iterations), I would be happy to consider a 20gb plan for $5/month.

The new feature are fine, of course. That is the right direction.

BUT: Fist the already existing feature should work. In addition to file sync that is syncronization of contacts and notes. That doesn't work for several weeks now. Also there should be given an error message telling the reason when synronizing doesn't work.

You want subscribers to pay for some features and more storage. As long as the service is not reliable and there is not a well communicated guaranteed service level I would not like to recommend that service.

this is a clever idea, but if it only duplicates what commercial services already provide (for example, dropbox), the only success it will achieve is in the open source crowd. if canononical is interested in a wider market, they need to differentiate. really, this applies across the board.

overall, though, i am much more impressed with v10 netbook than all others. it's nice to finally see a useful, usable interface to linux.

suggestion: including google support for sync would be really cool and help do away with the idea of the provider mattering more than the data.

Hi!

what about offering a smaller plan, lets say 16GB for 5$/month?

I think that Ubuntu One could achieve all kind of users and being a perfect source of revenue for canonical if...:

Plan Free: 2Gb (no cost)
Plan Simple: 10 Gb / 2€mo
(Plan Medium: 20Gb / 5€mo - if really necessary)
Plan Enterprise (or "Geek" hihi): 100Gb 10€mo

Maybe another plan for companies to use the storage as a CRM Database (we have openoffice.org base that connects mysql or glom with postgresql).

Perhaps, with further investment, serve a website, e-commerce, with the ability to manage quickly from their computers...

But you need to be quick to gain the marketplace of small-medium sized companies :)
